    GETting Set for Success

L&T ushers 2024-batch engineer trainees into the corporate world

Armed with their graduate and post-graduate degrees, over 2,700 youngsters walked into their dream job – as Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) and Post-Graduate Engineer Trainee (PGET) with L&T this July.

They were accorded a warm welcome at the grand orientation programme hosted by L&T’s Corporate HR simultaneously in Mumbai and Chennai. The event was characterised by high enthusiasm and joie de vivre!

Delivering the keynote address, L&T Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) S N Subrahmanyan gave the trainees advice that is valuable at every stage in one’s career: strengthen your roots, be persistent, have a scientific approach to life, be innovative with solutions, work as a team, graduate from school but never graduate from learning, think out of the box, focus on speed, scale and agility, encourage yourself and others, have total integrity, and remember that leadership does not depend upon size but on courage and mindset.

The ‘Know Your Leader’ sessions gave the participants the coveted opportunity to interact with L&T’s senior leaders – including R Shankar Raman (President, Whole-time Director & Chief Financial Officer), Subramanian Sarma (Whole- time Director & President, Energy), S V Desai, Whole-time Director & Sr EVP, Civil Infrastructure), T Madhava Das (Whole-time Director & Sr EVP, Utilities), Anil V Parab (Whole-time Director & Sr EVP, Heavy Engineering & L&T Valves), and Executive Committee Members J D Patil, M V Satish and D K Sen.

Dr C Jayakumar (EVP & Head – Corporate HR, L&T) congratulated the trainees and emphasised L&T’s core values of integrity, excellence, innovation, meritocracy, customer focus, and respect for others – pillars upon which the Company is built.

The induction sessions were thorough and informative, encompassing a wide range of topics such as L&T’s history, future business strategies and corporate planning. Critical discussions covered the transition from campus to corporate life, leadership development, Company values and culture, ESG initiatives, green energy projects, CSR efforts, cybersecurity, digital transformation and personal finance.

The programme equipped the trainees with the knowledge and tools necessary to embark on their professional journey. The event exemplified L&T’s unwavering commitment to its workforce, ensuring that every trainee is geared to contribute to the Company’s continued success, while setting the stage for their own professional growth.
