Growing a Record
The Water and Effluent Treatment team of L&T that created a mini forest in an hour!
Despite the tremendous need for tree plantation drives, the news of such initiatives often sounds cliched! But what if a tree plantation drive sets a record!
Well, a tree plantation drive undertaken by L&T’s Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) vertical has entered the India Book of Records for the highest number of saplings planted by an organisation in one hour.
WET’s Urban Water & Water Management arm carried out the drive at Shri Channakeshava Government Polytechnic in Karnataka’s Bankapur on 17 May. WET volunteers planted 800 saplings of different species to create a mini forest on the Polytechnic campus. The drive commenced at 11.01 am and was homed in at 12 noon.
L&T's WET arm, implementing the 24×7 Hubballi-Dharwad Water Supply Project, undertook the plantation drive under its CSR initiatives. It had collaborated with the Polytechnic and the Inner Wheel Club of Hubli West for this.
