Reviving a River
L&T’s Heavy Engineering team gives a river a new lease of life

World Environment Day, 5 June, was observed all over the L&T ecosystem – its manufacturing  facilities, offices and delivery centres – with a variety of conservation activities, such as tree plantation, seed-ball crafting and awareness sessions. These events drew wide participation from the employees, and served to reinforce the nature-conservation mindset.

At L&T’s A M Naik Heavy Engineering Complex Hazira, the occasion was marked with strong on-ground action, reinforcing the Company’s leadership in environmental stewardship through awareness and engagement initiatives.

The action plan was to restore and protect Surat’s vital natural lifeline, the Tapi River. Over 118 enthusiastic employees and their family members came together on 7 June, a Sunday, to undertake the intensive river clean-up drive.

The participants in this initiative included Anil V Parab (Whole-time Director & Sr EVP – Manufacturing), Ravindra Master (Sr Scientific Officer, Gujarat Pollution Control Board, Regional Office, Surat), Vrajesh Unadkat and Sumandevi Vimalbhai Garg  (Corporators, Surat  Municipal Corporation). The encouragement of these thought leaders inspired the L&T team and reinforced the message of collective responsibility.

The collective effort of the L&T employees and their family members resulted in the collection of 430 kg of waste, which has been responsibly handed over to the SMC for further processing.

Adding a creative touch, the volunteers artistically designed dustbins and handed them over to local vendors, promoting better community participation and waste collection practices.

This initiative reflects a simple but powerful belief – sustainability is driven by action on the ground. Every small effort contributes to a larger impact.

L&T will continue to play a role in protecting the environment, and building a cleaner and greener future.

LTM is equipping young learners to shape a technology-driven future

Ranjana was hesitant to participate in classroom discussions and practical activities. A 15-year-old Class IX student at MPS Poisar School in Kandivali, Mumbai, she had limited exposure to STEM, and believed subjects such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) were difficult and demanded advanced knowledge.

Today, she collaborates confidently with her peers, asks thoughtful questions and looks forward to every STEM session with curiosity and enthusiasm. What once seemed intimidating gradually became exciting and approachable.

A transformation indeed! This is due to LTM’s flagship CSR initiative, Tech4 Future. Implemented by Hope Foundation, Learning Links Foundation, Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation and Centre Square Foundation, it includes STEM and AI learning sessions designed to make complex concepts accessible and engaging. Through observation, measurement, experimentation and teamwork, Ranjana discovered how scientific concepts could solve practical problems – and looks forward to every STEM session with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Tech4Future expands access to AI, robotics and design-thinking education for students countrywide, moving learners beyond textbook concepts and into the practice of building real solutions to real problems. It has reached more than 50,000 children through 123 Digital Inclusion Centres spread across India, creating a network of technology-enabled learning spaces where students from diverse backgrounds engage with future-ready skills.

The Government acknowledged and appreciated LTM’s role in strengthening innovation-led learning among young students at the Future Makers Innovators Bootcamp 2026 in June. It was organised in partnership with the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, Central Square Foundation and The Innovation Story. The programme culminated in a showcase at IIIT-Delhi, with Ashish Sood (Minister of Education, Government of NCT, Delhi) as Chief Guest.

The bootcamp brought together 100 high-potential students, selected from a pool of more than 33,000 applicants. Over 140 hours of immersive, hands-on learning, they explored robotics, AI and engineering while developing practical solutions to everyday challenges. It nurtured creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving, helping students see themselves as the next generation of innovators and change-makers.

From identifying young innovators through advanced bootcamps to nurturing curiosity in neighbourhood classrooms, LTM’s Tech4Future helps ensure that talent meets opportunity. By building confidence, creativity and future-ready skills among young learners from diverse backgrounds, the initiative empowers gen-next to innovate, lead and shape the future.

LTM and healthcare partners help cure underprivileged children

For thousands of children born into economically disadvantaged families, the barriers of cost and distance prevent them from obtaining treatment for a serious medical condition. To ensure children from economically disadvantaged families can access critical healthcare and receive the support required for successful treatment and recovery, LTM joined hands with leading healthcare partners.

Implemented in partnership with Apollo Children’s Hospital, Chennai, and supported through LTM’s CSR programme, the initiative brought together healthcare professionals, Rotary leaders and development partners to provide life-saving congenital heart care to these children.

Over five years, Healing Tiny Hearts helped provide specialised treatment for over 3,500 children with congenital heart defects. The sixth edition, aimed at supporting an additional 500 children, was inaugurated on 31 July, in Chennai, and drew a distinguished gathering, including Archana Sahay (Global Head – ESG, LTM), Dr Ilankumaran Kaliamoorthy (CEO – Chennai Region, Apollo Hospitals) and Rtn. D Suresh Jain (District Governor, Rotary International District 3234), as well as other healthcare and community leaders devoted to improving healthcare access for vulnerable children.

Through Give4Life, implemented in partnership with Narayana Hrudayalaya Charitable Trust (NHCT) at Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre, Bengaluru, underprivileged children receive treatment for blood disorders and different types of cancer. To date, 375 children have benefited from this partnership.

LTM’s partnership with Access Life provides holistic support to children undergoing cancer treatment and bone marrow transplants, together with their caregivers. So far, 252 beneficiaries, including 84 children and 168 caregivers, have received support.

LTM’s healthcare programmes have helped children and families face some of life’s toughest moments with hope and dignity. By pairing medical support with emotional, educational and rehabilitative care, these initiatives have opened pathways to recovery and brighter futures for hundreds of youngsters.

Larsen & Toubro Public Charitable Trust uses technology to bring specialised healthcare to rural communities

For thousands of families in rural Khalapur (Raigad district, Maharashtra), consulting a specialist meant travelling long distances, spending a day’s wage, and delaying treatment. That is set to change.

On 6 July, Larsen & Toubro Public Charitable Trust (LTPCT) inaugurated a Telemedicine Clinic at Khalapur’s Primary Health Centre, in partnership with Raigad’s District Health Department, and with CSR support from L&T Realty.

Serving nearly 59,000 people across seven sub-centres, the clinic provides free specialist teleconsultations in general medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, dermatology, ENT and other disciplines, along with prescribed medicines. It helps eligible families to access healthcare benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).

The inauguration brought together representatives from L&T Realty, LTPCT, the District Health Department, Panchayat Samiti members, frontline health workers and community leaders, reflecting a shared commitment to making quality healthcare more accessible to everyone in Khalapur.

LTM fosters self-reliance in India’s villages

By partnering with grassroots organisations and drawing on years of rural engagement, LTM’s Integrated Village Development Programme has been strengthening livelihoods, protecting natural resources and building lasting economic resilience across three states, as these examples show.

In Balisankara Block, Odisha, 60 women from Self-Help Groups took part in a structured livelihood enhancement and income-generation programme designed to reinforce their entrepreneurial capabilities and financial independence.

The sessions covered enterprise management and day-to-day business skills; financial literacy to help them plan, save and invest; value addition to raise the earnings from produce and livelihood diversification to reduce dependence on a single income source.

The training also exposed participants to proven practices in micro-enterprise development. Equipped with practical skills and business knowledge, the women began exploring new income streams, strengthening household earnings, and playing a more visible role in their local economy.

In the Buxwaha Aspirational Block of Chhatarpur district, rising fuel costs were stretching household budgets thin. In partnership with Haritika, LTM helped install a bio-gas plant for a small farmer and cattle-owner.

The plant converted agricultural residue and cattle waste into clean cooking fuel, reducing the family’s reliance on commercial LPG cylinders. As fuel prices climbed, the bio-gas system offered a steady, affordable alternative, while also encouraging cleaner cooking practices and better use of farm waste. This set an example for others to emulate.

In Subir, in Gujarat’s Dang district, the priority was water. Working with Larsen & Toubro Public Charitable Trust (LTPCT), the programme desilted a community check dam in Zaran village, restoring its storage capacity ahead of the summer season.

6,250 cubic metres of nutrient-rich silt were recovered and used by farmers to enrich their soil and develop their land. The check dam’s water-holding capacity rose to 2.85 crore litres, including 62.5 lakh litres of storage. This enabled the farmers to grow a second crop. Significantly, the benefits extended to the neighbouring villages.

LTM continues to back locally relevant solutions that improve livelihoods, strengthen resilience and move rural India closer to long-term, sustainable development.
