L&T Heavy Engineering’s manufacturing prowess earns coveted award

L&T Heavy Engineering (HE), Hazira, was conferred the CII National Best Practices Award on Future Ready Manufacturing in May. This reflects HE’s unwavering dedication to innovation, technological advancement and transformative manufacturing excellence.

Building on this milestone, the Future Ready Manufacturing Conference organised by CII on 18 June in New Delhi brought together industry leaders to exchange best practices and drive the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies across sectors. Here, HE showcased its transformative journey towards future-ready manufacturing, emphasising key strategies – such as enhancing productivity through process innovation, automation, digitalisation and data analytics; utilising AI, IIoT and robotics to optimise operational efficiency; and advancing towards autonomous, integrated, future-ready manufacturing technologies.

Dhiren Patel (GM, Head, Heat Transfer Equipment, L&T) and Nishanth Neerabidre (DGM, Head, Production Engineering & Smart Manufacturing, L&T) shared insights through their presentation and participation in the panel discussion.

L&T Valves secures coveted certification

The Kancheepuram facility of L&T Valves was certified to comply with the requirements of ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System. Received in July, this is L&T Valves’ sixth Management System Certification. It underpins the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing, energy efficiency and operational excellence.

L&T Valves had established and implemented a comprehensive energy policy, documented energy management procedures and defined measurable energy objectives and targets focused on continual improvement in energy performance. Further, significant energy uses were systematically identified, energy consumption patterns were monitored, energy performance indicators were established and initiatives to optimise energy utilisation were launched.

A decisive step towards energy efficiency was the setting up of an 800 kW rooftop solar power plant that was inaugurated by R Shankar Raman (President & Whole-Time Director - Finance, L&T) last September.

The certification strengthens L&T Valves’ sustainability credentials and demonstrates its commitment to responsible growth, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship and global competitiveness through continual improvement of its energy management practices.
