L&T MBDA Missile Systems Limited (LTMMSL) has done a complete overhaul of an anganwadi (pre-school) in Coimbatore, transforming it from a shabby to a vibrant place.
The anganwadi, located at Vinobha Nagar Handloom Weavers’ Colony in Kittampalayam village, has been renovated by LTMMSL under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for FY 2021-22. This is the first social development project by LTMMSL since it commenced operations at Coimbatore in March 2020.
The project was taken up in October 2021, when the Sulur Block Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) requested LTMMSL to consider renovating the anganwadi, which was in dilapidated condition and lacked basic amenities. The anganwadi was set up under a special government scheme in 1991 and serves the needs of many children.
The much-needed improvements carried out by LTMMSL include construction of a boundary wall with gate, waterproofing the terrace, classroom flooring, aesthetic interiors, furniture, toilet renovation, kitchen improvements, utensils, LPG stove, sports items and landscaping.
The renovated anganwadi was handed over to Sulur Block Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Ms Samrudha by the Chief Executive of LTMMSL Mr Ravi Kataria. Kittampalayam Panchayat President Mr Chandrasekar was present on the occasion.
Completion of the renovation project gave team LTMMSL much satisfaction, especially because the anganwadi caters to children – the future of India. Going forward, underits CSR initiatives , LTMMSL has plans to focus majorly in the areas of education, health and sanitation.
