L&T's CSR initiatives of appreciation and celebration of strength

In the run-up to International Women’s Day, L&T Energy Hydrocarbon (LTEH) brought together 138 underprivileged women from Medhe and Vadghar Grampanchayat of Vasai in Greater Mumbai. The event, organised at Medhe in February, sought to inspire and educate women through a series of informative and engaging sessions.

In addition to the women, the event was graced by Punam Santosh Gofnor, the Sarpanch of Medhe Grampanchayat, and Ganesh Umbersada, a Zilla Parishad member, who shared motivational words on women’s empowerment and self-reliance.

One of the key sessions of the day focused on menstrual hygiene, conducted by Lochana Adivarekar from the Ubuntu Movement with the support of L&T volunteers. This hands-on, activity-based learning session led to open discussions about women’s health.

Next, Varsha Patil from MAVIM led an insightful session on small-scale businesses, empowering women with ideas on how to leverage local resources for entrepreneurship. Further reinforcing the spirit of sustainability, attendees participated in a medicinal plant plantation drive, symbolising the nurturing of women’s resilience.

The event also featured an energetic cultural performance by young girls from the local community, adding vibrancy to the day’s proceedings.

In another development, recognising the contribution that ASHA workers and volunteers make in terms of community health service, LTEH organised a special Mumbai Darshan trip in February to offer them a well-deserved break. This initiative not only served as an appreciation, but also provided an opportunity for L&T employees and volunteers to connect with these trainers.

The trip saw participation of 38 Sakhi trainers, 11 L&T volunteers and 9 members from NGO RNisarg Foundation. The LTEH volunteers played a key role in engaging with the trainers, making the journey lively with fun activities and interesting conversation.

The tour covered Mumbai’s iconic landmarks, including the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Chowpatty and Hanging Gardens, where the trainers enjoyed the scenic beauty and participated in interactive games. The visit to Mahalaxmi Mandir and Siddhivinayak Temple added a spiritual touch to the trip.

The twin initiatives reflect L&T’s unwavering commitment to community welfare and empowerment. Whether through a day of leisure for health workers or an educational session fostering self-reliance and awareness, these efforts exemplify how corporate social responsibility can create meaningful change.
