L&T picks up prestigious awards in Singapore for water and wastewater projects
L&T's Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) vertical took its place in the spotlight at the 2023 Infrastructure & Going Digital Awards ceremony in Singapore. The awards are given by the Nasdaq-listed Bentley Systems, a global infrastructure engineering software company.
Two major projects executed by L&T – the 318 MLD Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) at Coronation Pillar in New Delhi and the Rajghat Dam Multi Village Rural Water Supply Scheme (WSS) in Madhya Pradesh – were declared runners-up in the ‘Structural Engineering’ and ‘Water and Wastewater’ categories, respectively.
This is a significant achievement, given that over 300 nominations were submitted by 235 organisations representing 51 different countries.
The Coronation Pillar WTP can treat an astounding 318 million litres sewage a day and save over 14,450 tonnes carbon emissions annually. On the other hand, the Rajghat WSS will deliver clean water to 250,000 villagers in Guna and Ashok Nagar districts of Madhya Pradesh.
The WSS project team utilised digital tools – such as BIM GIS integration, QR codes for drawings, EIP database management system, progress monitoring using GIS, OPENSTAAD, Python integration, BIM parametric modelling, smart automation, and network automation. The WTP project won accolades for the usage of STAAD software for highly complex geometric structures in the plant.
These digital initiatives have saved time and delivered quality engineering.
