Tiny but efficient, the popularity of ‘The Little Master’ soars to 7000
Two decades ago, Komatsu and L&T had launched PC71, a seven-tonne hydraulic excavator. It is the smallest hydraulic excavator from Komatsu, which has undergone numerous technological upgrades over the years.
The first PC71 was rolled out from a previous joint venture manufacturing unit of L&T and Komatsu in Bengaluru. This marked a turning point in the joint venture’s history, initiating collaborative engineering efforts to adapt Japanese machines to suit local conditions and meet rigorous quality requirements.
Subsequently, Komatsu began manufacturing PC71 with indigenous components at its factory in Chennai. Robust and efficient, the hydraulic excavator incorporates the latest Komatsu technology to deliver a rugged boom and arm design. The superior boom and reinforced structure ensure durability and endurance even in the most demanding applications.
Incorporated into PC71, Komatsu’s revolutionary closed-centre load-sensing Hydraumind hydraulic offers unparalleled productivity. Its advanced swing system ensures smooth and controlled movement of the machine.
Often referred to as ‘The Little Master’, PC71 meets the emerging demands of varied types of projects. It has a wide range of applications, including agriculture, irrigation, infrastructure, urban road making, blue metal quarrying, tunnelling, general construction, brickfields, fishponds, trenching, roadwork, and small quarry applications.
It is highly competitive in terms of lifecycle cost, providing superior productivity while consuming less fuel. Owing to this, the Little Master has gained much popularity among rental customers and small contractors involved in general construction. L&T Construction & Mining Machinery recently sold the 7000th PC71, marking yet another milestone for the machine.
