GREEN STATIONS
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has conferred Platinum rating Green MRTS certification on three more stations of the L&T-operated Hyderabad Metro. With this, the number of IGBC Platinum-rated metro stations in Hyderabad now stands at 23.
The latest certification has been awarded in the ‘elevated stations’ category to Durgam Cheruvu, Punjagutta and LB Nagar metro stations. This is an acknowledgement of the Metro’s contribution to Hyderabad’s standing as a green city, upon which the International Association of Horticultural Producers recently bestowed its prestigious World Green City Award.
The Platinum rating was announced on 20 October during the IGBC Green Building Congress 2022 held in Hyderabad. Mr KVB Reddy (MD & CEO – L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited) received the certificate.
The certification recognises green concepts in design, construction and operation of all new mass rapid transit system (MRTS) projects and ensure environmental sustainability in tandem with enhanced commuter experience.
