Biases at Bay
Biases at Bay
BREAKING barriers takes commitment and strength. And that is what has enabled L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (LTMRHL) to break barriers not only in the mass rapid transit system that it operates but also within its organisational functions.

On 8 March – International Women’s Day – LTMRHL decided not only to break the gender bias but the hierarchical bias as well. In its celebration, LTMRHL shone the limelight on several women employees who usually work behind the scenes and whose contributions seemingly go unnoticed.

It was the ‘sheroes’ from functions like housekeeping, maintenance, security, technical activities, station control and loco driving who were put at the forefront of the Women’s Day festivities. They steered the event right from anchoring to lamp lighting, felicitating guests, performing, and all other engagement activities.

Security guard Ms Asha anchored the full range of activities centered around the day-long celebrations. Expressing her excitement on being at the core of the event, she said that it was one of the best occasions of her career.

Her colleague Ms Bhagyalakshmi was equally thrilled at being nominated to felicitate a VIP guest. So were ticket collector Ms Supriya and security guard Ms Anuradha who felicitated other guests. They could hardly conceal their elation at being part of the team driving the event.

Housekeeping  staff  Ms  Anuradha, Ms Shashikala, Ms Rama, Ms Upendra, Ms Renuka, Ms Malleshwari, Ms Rani, Ms Sai Lakshmi, Ms Uma and Ms Kavitha lit the auspicious ceremonial lamp. It was, by their own admission, a first in their lifetime.

Ms Lakshmi also sang a mellifluous Telugu number. Livening up the cultural programme, Ms Veena Raju from LTMRHL’s legal section and advertising staffer Ms Rama Subbarao presented a duet that mesmerised the audience.

The joyous occasion was made even more memorable when all employees connected and bonded, pledging to keep all biases at bay and foster each other’s growth. LTMRHL not only bridges geographical distances but also cements human relationships, helping on its way those who pursue their passion.
