MR Arvind K Garg, EVP & Head of L&T Construction & Mining Machinery business (CMB), has been conferred with the ‘Equipment India Person of the Year 2021’ award.
Instituted by ASAPP Media, the annual award recognises the best performers in India’s construction equipment industry and Mr Garg has been honoured with the award for his outstanding contribution to the sector. Interestingly, this comes at a time when CMB is celebrating the 75th year of its journey and growth.
Mr Pradeep Singh, a former advisor (infra) to the J&K government, and Mr Pratap Padode, the founder-president of First Construction Council, handed over the award to Mr Garg during the 9th Equipment India Awards Ceremony in Mumbai on 22 October.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Garg lauded the collective efforts of the industry captains in shaping India’s infrastructure needs. He said that L&T has been at the construction equipment industry’s forefront for 75 years and brings in the latest technologies to address the gap and realise India’s vision to become an infrastructurally advanced economy.
With nearly four decades of association with the industry, Mr Garg has worked closely with global majors such as Komatsu-Japan and Scania-Sweden, to usher in world-class technologies and products in the Indian market. He champions the cause of digitalisation and is spearheading product indigenisation, paving the way for Atmanirbhar Bharat.
A past president of the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA), Mr Garg is presently the chairman of Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) which provides industry-specific skills.
