    27 KM Vital Road Stretch of Batinah Expressway Opened to Traffic

    L&T’s AL Batinah Expressway achieved a major milestone by opening a vital 27 KM stretch from the Wilayat of Saham to Sohar segment on November 1, 2017 under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Salim Al- Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communication, Oman. A significant stretch passing through the Saham to Sohar region, it comprises two interchange bridges. The opening of the segment is expected to smoothen traffic in and around the Saham region. Mr. Shrinath Rao, VP & Head - Transportation BU, Middle East, Mr. G. R. Ranganath Chief Executive - L&T, Oman LLC, Mr. C.R. Lakshman CFO - L&T, Oman LLC, and Mr. M. Ramesh, Project Director, received Dr. Al- Futaisi on the occasion.

    The opening ceremony was also graced by a ministerial delegation, various dignitaries and representatives of Saham, consultants and executives from L&T Oman. The Ministerial delegation included H.E. Eng. Salim Bin Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport & Communications, H.E. Sheikh Mohana bin Seif Al Lamaki,, Governor of North Batinah, H.E. Sheikh Ali bin Mansoor Al Busaidi, Wali for Wilayat of Saham, H.E. Sheikh Hammood Abdullah Suliman Al Busaidi, Sheikh of Wilayat Flaij.

    The minister along with all the officials travelled the entire 27 KM stretch of the expressway and expressed satisfaction on the quality of the work. He congratulated the project team on achieving this milestone.
     
    Batinah Expressway Project – Package 4 includes a 50.54 Km long 4-lane dual expressway from Hafeet to Sohar involving the construction of two Interchange Bridges, five Wadi Bridges, four overpasses, two underpasses and 196 culverts.
