L&T CMB Offers Mining Simulation Facility at Nagpur Service Centre

In its bid to offer advanced facilities for operator training, L&T Construction & Mining Machinery has installed a Komatsu WD600-3 Wheel Dozer mining simulator at its Nagpur Service Centre. The installation makes the Nagpur service centre CMB’s third location to have the useful facility. Its service centres at Kanchipuram and Durgapur have already been equipped with simulators for hydraulic excavators, dump trucks and Scania tipper trucks.

The simulator was inaugurated by Mr. Arvind K. Garg, Executive Vice-President, Construction and Mining Machinery Business, L&T and Mr. M. Kamizono, Managing Director, Komatsu India Private Limited on September 14, 2017. Also present on the occasion were Mr. Arun Pai, General Manager-Product Support, L&T, Mr. Y. Fujii, General Manager-Parts, KIPL and Mr. Takashi Matsumoto, Team Manager-Construction & Mining Equipment Team, Komatsu Ltd., along with other senior executives from Komatsu and L&T.

This simulator has been developed indigenously with technical inputs by L&T application engineering team. Featuring motion seating and actual controls, the simulator gives operators a real feel of Wheel Dozer. The simulator is capable of creating different types of work environments including day, night, rain, and foggy conditions to fully equip trainees. It also allows for fault injection and caution lamps to be actuated so as to check the alertness and reaction of trainee operator.

Portable simulators of excavator and dump truck were also on display during the inauguration event.

The setting up of the simulator facility for Wheel Dozer augurs well even as coal companies begin to increase the offtake for these machines deployed actively in mining operations.
