The team receiving the Pride of Central India award.
L&T's Water & Effluent Treatment wins awards for innovation and societal impact L&T's Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) business business has been making waves by swooping up prestigious awards in the recent past. The business earned the CII Industrial Innovation Award 2024 for being among the Top 20 Innovative Companies. The award was presented by Vipin Sondhi, B Thiagarajan, Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan, and Chief Guest Dr Chandrika Kaushik (Outstanding Scientist & Director General – Production Coordination & Services Interaction, Defence Research & Development Organisation). On L&T’s behalf, the award was received by Dr Rajesh Kumar (Head – Engineering, Design & Research Centre [Digital], Irrigation, Industrial & Infrastructure). L&T’s WET business has spearheaded several innovative solutions in the water infrastructure sector – water infrastructure optimisation through in-house GIS solutions, digital-twin technology to reduce non-revenue water, and a Unified Command Control Centre to efficiently monitor and manage over 3,300 gram panchayats as part of the Jal Jeevan mission in Uttar Pradesh. Then, prominent magazine Dainik Bhaskar conferred the Pride of Central India Award for outstanding service to society upon the Agar Malwa Multi-Village Scheme (AMMVS) project for outstanding service to society. Part of the Jal Jeevan Mission Rural Water Supply Construction Project, the AMMVS project is being undertaken by L&T’s WET business. The award was presented at New Delhi on 18 December by Bhupendra Yadav (Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change) to Dhilipkumar V (Project Manager) and Rajesh Patidar (Planning Manager). Those present on the occasion included Girish Agarwal (Director, Dainik Bhaskar Group) and Sumit Modi (COO, Dainik Bhaskar – Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh). The AMMVS project comprised the construction of an intake well-cum- approach bridge of 64 million litres per day (MLD). This was the first time in MP that the hybrid method was used to construct an intake well. This method integrates precast concrete with concrete cast at the site to make the best of their different inherent qualities, combining the accuracy, speed and high-quality finish of precast components with the economy and flexibility of concrete cast at the site. A water-treatment plant of 52 MLD capacity, pumping stations and water tanks were also constructed. The intake well and water treatment plant have been commissioned. Now, 53,000 households are grateful to receive drinking water on-tap.
