World Youth Skills Day Celebrated at Hazira
On June 15, 2019, World Youth Skills Day was celebrated at L&T’s Hazira Manufacturing Complex (HZMC). At an event, attended by members of the senior management, staffers, and trainees, topics relating to youth skills training and how it was intrinsically tied to the nation’s growth agenda was discussed at great length. The program also saw L&T-ites reiterate their commitment to this cause of national importance.
 
Held at the Central Training Centre Workshop, the program also witnessed the launch of ‘Kaushal Pakhwada’ - a 15-day initiative for raising awareness about the importance of skills development and training.

In an address, Mr. Atik M. Desai, CAO & VP, Hazira Central Services noted that the aim of World Youth Skills Day was to encourage the youth to celebrate the value of acquiring skills to achieve personal success and fulfilment. Reminding those gathered that since L&T Group Chairman Mr. A.M. Naik is currently spearheading National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a not-for-profit firm instituted by the government to bring about transformative change in the area of skill-building, L&T had a ‘personal stake’ in the said mission.

He also urged the trainees gathered on the occasion to dedicate themselves fully to developing their skill-sets and make every effort to succeed in their chosen trade.
 
The event also witnessed speeches by Mr. Rajesh Parekh and Rajeev Savant on the topic of skill development. Mr Kalpesh Gajjar administered a special pledge to all those present for committing themselves to the cause of skill development.

LDA Celebrates World Environment Day
On June 5, 2019, the team over at L&T’s Leadership Development Academy (LDA) in Lonavla celebrated the World Environment Day by organizing a series of events themed around caring for nature and environment. This included everything from planting new tree saplings at various locations throughout the sprawling campus to hosting an informative talk on Afforestation and a trek to Micro Tower Point, the highest point in Lonavla. In fact, the LDA team during the entire week put up rangolis, digital displays, banners and models raising awareness about air pollution and various ways in which it can be prevented. Besides these, the team also helped administer a special pledge to the workmen and the staff employed by the LDA.
