Learnability is Key for Future Leaders says Dr. Swatee Sarangi
In the digital age, learnability - the capacity of individuals to grow and adapt one's skill set is key to ascending to leadership roles declared Dr. Swatee Sarangi, Head - Capability Development, Corporate HR, L&T, at the recently concluded Human Capital Connect 2019, a gathering of HR professionals held in Mumbai.

Organised by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and enterprise software maker SAP, the event offered HR practitioners a platform for deliberating new innovations in the workplace and creating a futuristic ecosystem for HR as a discipline. Dr. Sarangi was part of a panel discussion titled ‘Rewriting the Rules for Employee Learning in the Digital Age’ and shared her insights on a number of themes including how the digital era offers more opportunities than challenges for businesses and learners and why learnability is a key competency for future leaders.

Drawing from her own vast experience, she also suggested that HR and L&D professionals play more strategic roles in fostering a culture of learning and an environment that triggers curiosity and collaboration which in turn lead to innovation and growth for the organisation.

People managers can act as catalysts in furthering development agendas for their team members, said Dr. Sarangi going on to add that personalized learning journeys can be curated by blending classroom, e-learning, coaching, mentoring, gamification, simulation and action learning projects to make work force future ready.
