SALUTE TO SAFETY PRACTICE
Two British awards affirm L&T's safety focus
The very nature of the construction industry makes it a challenge to adhere to environment, health and safety norms. But treading the fine line between development and destruction, L&T has managed to achieve distinction in this crucial area, as several prestigious awards recently won by the Company prove.
The British Safety Council’s International Safety Award 2023 was conferred upon L&T’s Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) arm for the project CP09 City Trunk Main along Eastern Route. All applicants of this award are auto-entered in five award categories, out of which the WET project won three awards:
Sector Award: Recognises the best applicant by industry sector. The CP09 project was recognised as the best in the ‘Local Government, Defence, and Public Services’ sector.
Best in Country Award: Recognises the best applicant by country.
India Regional Award: A special award for Indian organisations to recognise the best applicant by region.
This apart, the British Safety Council awarded the ‘Winner – Best in Country (Bangladesh)’ award to L&T Transportation Infrastructure’s Railways Strategic Business Group for the Dhaka Metro CP07 project.
The Railways Strategic Business Group also won an award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), UK. It won RoSPA Gold Medal for the year 2023 for EMP16 project of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor.
