Coveted industry award celebrates L&T CMB leader Arvind K Garg Equipment Times has bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Year on Arvind K Garg, Sr VP & Head of L&T Construction & Mining Machinery. This came at a time when Mr Garg embarked upon his 41st year career journey with L&T. He had joined the Company in 1983 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee. Equipment Times handed over the award to Mr Garg during the Bauma ConExpo hosted in Delhi in December 2024. The award recognises his trail-blazing contribution to the construction & mining equipment sector and his remarkable 40+ year journey with L&T. Mr Garg has been instrumental in establishing L&T’s leadership in this sector, focussing on customer-centric strategies and technological advancements. Under his leadership, L&T Construction & Mining Machinery, in collaboration with Komatsu, introduced innovative solutions, such as predictive maintenance technologies and telematics, enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability, which have set benchmarks in the industry. Mr Garg’s influence extends to industry platforms like the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association, where he plays a key role in pushing innovations in this sector. He emphasises inclusivity, sustainability, and global best practices, inspiring future leaders to drive the industry towards a transformative future.

Amity University has conferred an honorary doctorate on L&T Semiconductor Technologies (LTSCT) Chief Executive Sandeep Kumar. The honour was conferred at Amity University’s 6th convocation hosted at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata on 26 November 2024. This comes in recognition of Mr Kumar’s 35-year illustrious career and significant contributions to the technology sector, particularly the semiconductor industry.

Award wins for L&T teams which delivered landmark projects and nurtured talent Two projects delivered by L&T’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure vertical – the Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP, Package 1) and the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL, Package 1) – have received prestigious accolades from the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
The awards were presented at the ‘Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards’ hosted in Philadelphia on 4 November 2024. MCRP secured the first place in the ‘Infrastructure’ category, MTHL secured second place in the ‘Bridge’ category. The winners were selected based on stringent criteria – including architectural and engineering merit, creativity, innovative construction techniques, use of materials, sustainability, resilience, functionality and end-use suitability. The awards were presented by ACI President Michael J Paul to L&T’s K Senthinathan (EVP & Head – Technical Services), S D Patil (VP & Head – Bridges Business Unit), Sandeep Singh (Project Director – MCRP Projects) and Inki Choi (Head – Design, Bridges).

L&T Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) vertical’s HR team picked up three trophies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Chief Learning Officers (CLO) Awards 2024: - L&D Team of the Year – Gold
- Best Employee Engagement Programme – Silver
- Best Skill Development Initiative – Bronze
Dr R Balasubramaniam (Capacity Building Commission – Government of India), Prof Sasmita Palo (Faculty – Tata Institute of Social Sciences) and Kumaar Bagrodia (Founder – LeapVault CLO Summit India) handed over the trophies to HCI’s HR team at the award ceremony in Mumbai in November. TISS CLO Awards are prestigious recognitions for excellence in learning, talent development, leadership, and organisational development. In 2024, 290 organisations competed for these coveted accolades, of which 37 were conferred awards across various categories. The awards ceremony was hosted in Mumbai in November.
