Together with its partner Komatsu, L&T’s Construction & Mining Machinery business put up an impressive show at South Asia’s largest construction equipment exhibition held recently in Bengaluru.
At the prestigious exhibition, Excon 2019, held from December 10-14, L&T and Komatsu showcased their technological might and service capabilities, thus reaffirming strong commitment to the industry.
Komatsu, Scania and L&T put up an impressive display of 19 machines, making it one of the most comprehensive display of construction, earthmoving and road machinery in the outdoor pavilion spreading over 2,500 sqm.The L&T pavilion had a built-up stall with a mezzanine floor and a large viewing gallery.
It showcased the Scania G440 XT Heavy Tipper that delivers higher productivity and customised transport solution due to its unique modular system. Introduced in 2007 in India, Scania Tippers are marketed and serviced by L&T.
There was also on display, recon components like engines and pumps refurbished at L&T service centres, and a wide range of genuine Komatsu parts. Adding excitement, an exclusive room was fitted with an excavator simulator that gave the visitors an opportunity to try out their driving skills.
The exhibition witnessed the delivery of the 50,000th Komatsu PC450 Hydraulic Excavator to L&T customer Mr V Prabhakar Reddy, founder & promoter of VPR Mining Infrastructure Pvt Ltd. Mr Arvind K Garg, EVP and Head, L&T Construction & Mining Machinery, and Mr Masaaki Kamizono, MD, Komatsu India Pvt Ltd, handed over a symbolic key of the excavator to Mr Reddy.
Several other machines were ceremoniously handed over to customers during the five-day exhibition ~ the most prominent being the 6,000th Komatsu PC130. The star of the show, however, was Komatsu PC210-10MO Hydraulic Excavator, a next-gen machine and a global model, which was launched amidst great fanfare.
Expected to become a gamechanger in the 20-tonne class excavator segment, it has been developed specially for Indian conditions.
At Excon, L&T also launched Komatsu genuine grease, Komatsu G2-LI. A multipurpose grease, it is designed for all components, and is suitable for most of the Komatsu range of construction equipment, an official pointed out.
As part of its efforts at gender inclusiveness, L&T, for the first time, introduced two trained lady operators to handle the hydraulic excavators during the exhibition. The icing on the cake came when ace cricketer M S Dhoni paid a visit to the L&T stall and thrilled other visitors.
