    The Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry awarded L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) its prestigious Civic Award for 2017-18 in the Social Development category at its 183rd Foundation Day celebrations on October 16, 2018 in Mumbai. On Behalf of LTHE, Ms. Priti Iyer, Manager - CSR accepted the award. LTHE runs multiple programmes as part of its CSR effort throughout the country and focuses exclusively on projects relating to Health, Education, Water & Sanitation and Skill Development. During 2017-18 alone LTHE’s various initiatives brought about positive changes in the lives of over 35000 people from across the country.

    LTHE’s Bassein Development Project Wins PMI Project of the Year Award

    The Bassein Development project, executed by L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), at Bassein gas fields 80 km north-west of Mumbai, won the Project Management Institute’s Project of the Year award in the Large Projects category at this year’s Project Management National Conference in New Delhi.

    The award was presented to the LTHE Team by Mr. M. Damodaran, Former Chairman, SEBI, UTI and IDBI.

    LTHE’s scope for the project covered pre-engineering survey, design & detailed engineering, procurement, to commissioning, & final documentation of BCPA-3 Process Platform, BLQ-3 Living Quarters Platform, BH Wellhead Platform, sub-sea pipelines and modification works at existing facilities of BPA complex.

    The awards jury especially appreciated LTHE’s handing over of the massive project a full 86 days ahead of the completion schedule.

    PMI is the world’s leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project, program and portfolio management profession. Founded in 1969, it instituted the award in 2009 to honour excellence in project management profession.

    M.P. Naidu Wins Construction Week’s Infrastructure Person of The Year 2018

    Mr. MP Naidu, Project Director, LTMRHL has won Construction Week India’s “Infrastructure Person of the Year” award for 2018. Mr. Naidu received the award from Mr. Mohit Hajela, Group Head - Business Development, Jaquar Group on September 28, 2018 at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai.

    Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naidu thanked L&T for entrusting him with the delivery of a prestigious project like Hyderabad Metro, one of the biggest ones in the world to be executed under a PPP framework.

    Leading infrastructure companies from across India were invited to nominate people, projects and initiatives of which they are most proud, across a total of 18 categories. Entries was judged by a large jury of industry peers, a factor which has given the Construction Week India Awards an independent and credible reputation. The jury for this year’s awards comprised 15 of India’s leading personalities from the infrastructure and real-estate sector.

    L&T-491 Tandem Compactor Wins JDP Good Design Award

    L&T Construction Equipment Limited’s L&T-491 Tandem Compactor has won the prestigious Good Design Award from Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP). In what is LTCEL’s first international award of such high repute, the L&T-491 Tandem Compactor won the Good Design Award for successfully combining five essential design themes of humanity, honesty, innovation, aesthetics, and ethics.

    L&T-491 Tandem Compactor is a construction equipment that finds application in compaction of soil/bitumen/DLC in road construction, building basement and plinth compaction, piping culverts, campus roads and repair works on damaged roads. It allows for dense compaction by ensuring better material flow through uniform vibration and ramming. Designed with suspended frame and novel exciter, the machine facilitates working closer to the road median and provides best in class productivity with lower fuel consumption. Ergonomically designed Operators Station provides best-in-class operator comfort & drum edge visibility.
     
    The award is the result of a team effort from L&T’s Product Development Centre (Coimbatore), LTCEL’s Doddaballapur Works and Construction Equipment business. The L&T-491 design team included Mr. S. Rammohan (Project Manager), Mr. M.G. Saravanraju (Project Leader), Mr. M. Suresh Kumar, Mr. N.J. Venkatesan, Mr. S. Myilsamy, Mr. K. Prabhakaran, Mr. N. Ramesh (Development Team).

    LTCEL Doddaballapura Works Wins Silver for Manufacturing Excellence

    International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM) has conferred L&T Construction Equipment Ltd. (LTCEL) with a Silver Award for manufacturing excellence. On September 28, 2018, Chief Executive Mr. D Keshava Kumar received the award at a formal felicitation ceremony held in Mumbai.

    LTCEL enrolled for the National Award for Manufacturing Competitiveness 2017-18 with IRIM India in April 2018. The assessment for manufacturing competitiveness was carried out in July 2018 for four days by lead assessors from Mumbai.

    A priority adapt exercise was conducted for LTCEL business and a joint brainstorming session with top management resulted in arriving at focus areas to achieve the strategic plan. Weightages were then given to the ten critical indicators of manufacturing competitiveness based on their influence on focus areas identified.

    Individual functional areas from marketing, production, materials planning & procurement product design and engineering, Quality systems, Asset upkeep were assessed for performance and excellence. The assessment concluded with a formal interaction with LTCEL CE.

    IRIM assessed LTCEL on two important principles viz., responsiveness to change and ability to eliminate waste.

    IRIM conferred LTCEL with a facility scoring of 71.47 which corresponds to a Silver Award. The honour puts LTCEL in the same basket as the top twenty manufacturing companies in India.

    L&T HR Wins Gold Award at Avartan

    L&T HR added another feather to its cap after winning the Gold Award (1st Prize) for ‘On the Job Achievers Contest’ in the General & HR Management category at AVARTAN event held on October 26, 2018 at the National Institute of Industrial Engineering in Mumbai.

    Representing L&T Construction, Ms. Soujanya Sandesh, Sr. Manager (Talent Acquisition) and Ms. V. Sheeja, Asst. Manager (HR Digitalization & New Initiatives) delivered a presentation on HR Digitalization before the jury and won against stiff competition from companies like Mahindra Logistics Limited, Asian Paints, EBEX – an Essel Group Company and Mahindra Special Services. L&T won the award after a challenging three-level evaluation process, which included submission of project synopsis, detailed report and a final presentation to the jury members followed by a Q&A Session.

    Thanking HR teams for the brilliant team work, Dr C. Jayakumar, GM & Head-Human Resources, Divisional Corporate said, “Our aim is to constantly evolve and grow. We are diversifying our people practices and integrating Digitalization in all HR processes. I would also like to thank the Senior Management for giving us impetus to move in a fast pace and make a mark in the industry.”

    Hyderabad Metro Rail Project Wins Concrete Excellence Award 2018

    On September 7, 2018, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project won the “Outstanding Concrete Structure for Infrastructure” at the Indian Concrete Institute - UltraTech Awards 2018, held in Hyderabad. The Metro Rail project won the prestigious prize in a stiff competition which included many a mega infrastructure projects in the country.
     
    Mr. NVS Reddy, MD, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) received the Outstanding Concrete Structure – Infrastructure (Owner) from Mr. K Rosaiah, Former Governor, Tamil Nadu & Former Chief Minister, United Andhra Pradesh.

    Mr. M.P. Naidu, Project Director, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd (LTMRHL), received the Outstanding Concrete Structure – Infrastructure (Project Concessionaires & Designers) and (Architects Award) on behalf of the Company from Mr. K Rosaiah, who was the Chief Guest.

    On receiving the award, Mr. NVS Reddy, stated, “Hyderabad Metro Rail structures are not only of high quality and possessing good structural stability, but are also aesthetically designed sleek structures. They are like poetry in concrete.”

    L&T Wins Top Award for Cost Management

    At the 15th National Awards for Excellence in Cost Management organised by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India in New Delhi on October 16, 2018, L&T won the top prize in the Infrastructure and Construction Services category.

    On behalf of L&T, Mr. Anil K. Mehta, Head Finance & Accounts - L&T MHPS Boilers received the award at the hands of Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways and Coal Shri Piyush Goyal.

    The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, a premier Cost and Management Accounting institute, is a statutory body set up under an Act of the Parliament viz., Cost and Works Accountants Act, 1959. It had instituted the National Awards for Excellence in Cost Management in the year 2003 to recognize and honour those organisations which succeeded in their business by applying cost management practices and innovative techniques of cost management.

    The award questionnaire is evaluated by an independent rating agency (CARE Ratings Ltd) and reviewed by a Screening Committee headed by Mr S. Suresh, Member (Finance), Airports Authority of India. Recipients of awards under various categories are selected by a Jury comprising persons of eminence from industry, government, judiciary and CMA profession.
