    Safaniya 4 Deck Project Achieves Mechanical Completion

    On October 28, 2018 at Al Khobar, KSA, Saudi Aramco presented the Mechanical Completion Acceptance Notice (MCAN) to L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) for successfully delivering four platforms to the Saudi Arabian giant for its Safaniya field, one of the largest offshore oil fields in the world. Handing over the MCAN to LTHE’s Nirmal Kumar Kabra, Saudi Aramco’s Company Representative Mr. Mubarak Al Hajeri appreciated the effort of the LTHE team and extolled its ability to deliver the project to their satisfaction.

    The Safaniya Four Decks & Associated Pipelines Project was awarded as part of Saudi Aramco`s LTA (Long Term Agreement) to Consortium of LTHE-EMAS on November 27, 2016, encompassing Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Installation, offshore hookup and pre-commissioning of four well-head Platforms, Brownfield modification at two Tie-in platforms, integration with GOSP-4 (Gas Oil Separation Platform) and laying of 15 km of intra-field pipelines and subsea cables at Safaniya Oil field.

    The entire Project team relocated to different work centres along with client team starting from Engineering phase in Bangalore, to the Fabrication yard at Hazira and then to the final phase of Offshore Installation, Hook-up, Pre-commissioning and handover in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, relentlessly working during the fast-paced Project Schedule clocking 4.76 Million Manhours without any incident and LTI across six work locations.

    Five Indigenously Designed and Built Defence Systems Flagged Off at Talegaon Complex

    Dr. Subhash Bhamre, Union Minister of State, Ministry of Defence, recently flagged off five different Defence systems at L&T’s Strategic Systems Complex (SSC) on the outskirts of Pune.

    The systems and equipment flagged off during Dr. Bhamre’s visit included PINAKA Multi-Rocket Launcher System (MRLS) - an all-weather, long-range area dominance artillery system; Pinaka Battery Command Post - a sheltered Fire Control Systems for PINAKA MRLS; indigenously upgraded Grad BM-21 Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher - an all-weather, indirect-fire, field artillery equipment; Short Span Bridging System (Load Class 70) – an Engineering System; P7 Heavy Drop Platform System - for para-dropping equipment and logistic support, in remote areas and bases from IL-76 aircrafts.

    Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bhamre said, “I am extremely happy to see Prime Minister’s Vision of Make in India is getting realised here. The main theme of Make in India is indigenisation and I am even more happy that the Platforms, Weapon & Engineering Systems being built in this Complex has an indigenous content of 70% - 98%, which is a phenomenal achievement.”

    Accompanying the minister was L&T’s Mr. Jayant Patil, Whole-time Director (Defence) and Member of the Board. He noted, “We are privileged to have Dr. Subhash Bhamre, the Hon’ble Minister of State (Defence) flag off five systems at our Strategic Systems Complex, Talegaon, which is one of the finest facilities of L&T for the realisation of prototypes as well as for series production of Land and Naval Weapon Systems, Sensors, and Military Engineering Systems. The Pinaka systems, Heavy Drop Platforms, and Bridging Systems were developed and realised by L&T over its long association with DRDO spanning nearly three decades.”
