L&T Finance extends its flagship CSR project to Uttar Pradesh

A hundred rural women in Uttar Pradesh will now spread their wings, thanks to Digital Sakhi, the flagship CSR project of L&T Finance (LTF).

The project will train these women to spread digital and financial literacy to rural communities across 400 villages in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. They will identify and provide training to 1,000 rural women entrepreneurs, enabling them to expand and strengthen their micro-businesses.

The project bolsters United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 5 - Gender Equality. LTF has set a target to reach over five lakh people in Uttar Pradesh under this project by the end of 2028.

The Digital Sakhi initiative has already readied a regiment of over 1,770 women who have spread digital and financial literacy to over 45 lakh individuals and have helped upskill over 14,000 women entrepreneurs in various states.

The CSR initiative makes a significant impact on the lives of rural women and their families, fostering financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and sustainable development – and giving them the immeasurable benefit of social uplift.

L&T doubles the capacity of a primary school in Gujarat’s Vadodara

L&T Energy Hydrocarbon (LTEH) has constructed a primary school building at Hanumanpura village in Gujarat’s Vadodara district under its CSR initiative. The new facility was formally handed over to the villagers on 6 July.

Underscoring the importance of the project for the local community, the event was attended by Dr Hemang Joshi (Member of Parliament – Vadodara) and Dharmendrasinh Vaghela (MLA – Waghodia, Vadodara). Nandakumar R Kulkarni (EVP & Head - Onshore Petrochemicals and Fertilisers, LTEH) was the chief guest.

Designed for 100+ students, the new building doubles the capacity of the previous structure, strengthening the access to quality education in an environment conducive to learning. It is equipped with essential infrastructure – such as drinking water, separate toilets for boys, girls and persons with disabilities, as well as a rainwater harvesting system.

The initiative is a testament to LTEH’s commitment to holistic community development. Since 2019, LTEH has implemented numerous CSR initiatives in Hanumanpura, including women’s empowerment programmes, sanitation improvements, and skill development – all aimed at fostering sustainable development of the village.

This initiative is part of a broader Village Development Programme that LTEH is spearheading in 12 villages in and around the L&T Knowledge City Campus at Vadodara. Through these efforts, it supports rural communities by enhancing infrastructure, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and improving the overall well-being of the villagers.

L&T does its bit to prepare underprivileged youth for the future

To prepare young adults from underprivileged backgrounds for corporate careers, L&T’s Head Office CSR, in collaboration with the HR team, conducted a soft-skill development workshop on 17 July.

The participants were 70 students from a non-profit named Bright Future India, which offers soft-skill training, assists in securing jobs that ensure financial stability and provides training in entrepreneurship and livelihoods to underprivileged youth.

The workshop was hosted at L&T’s swank corporate office, AMN Tower at Powai in Mumbai, giving the participants their first glimpse of corporate life.

With Nishad Mehta (Head – Leadership Development & OD, Corporate HR), and his colleagues Saurabh Lotilkar and Deepti Cornellio acting as the resource persons, the day-long workshop covered the significance of soft skills, interview dos and don’ts, the importance of communication and the corporate working environment.

To round off the session, the students were taken to L&T’s corporate experience centre, Planet L&T, where they were impressed by the scale and scope of the projects executed by L&T and the accolades the Company has received over the years.

The learnings from the workshop are likely to help these students from a humble background make an entry into the corporate world.
